MWBents Ride Group

Midwest Recumbents now hosts a weekly bicycle ride in Mascoutah! All skill levels and bicycle types are permitted, but click Read More to make sure you have the safety requirements met. The ride starts from the bicycle shop at 2 E. Main St. at approximately 6:30pm on Thursdays. Various ride distances of 10, 15 and 20-30 miles are available.  Stop in and sign up, or call in and leave your information; Anthony will get in touch with you with information about the ride.

- In order to participate, you must leave your name and phone number/email address with us either by signing the registration sheet at the store or by calling in your information.

- Your bicycle must be street legal (meeting the minimal safety requirements by the State of Illinois, meaning wheel, front, rear, and pedal reflectors) and you must wear a helmet.

- Some rides, depending on the time of the year, will wind up ending closer to night time, so during those times a headlight is also required.

- Some form of protective eyewear is recommended to keep the insects out of your eyes (sunglasses work fine).

- We often ride even when it is raining.  The ride will be cancelled in the case of lightning or other more serious weather.  If it is raining, we will require you to have a taillight on the bicycle as well.  Being conspicuous is important.

- Audible signals and hand signals will be used; feel free to ask before the ride if you do not know what these are, as we will be happy to teach you.

- Often times after the ride, a few of the riders also go for a run down Railway St.  You are welcome to join in this as well!

- Water can be provided by the bike shop after the ride on request.  It is recommended that you bring your own water for the ride.  No alcohol please; bicycles are still vehicles.
